Tournament Rules and Regulations for Players

Welcome to the Denver Soccer Tournament! Here, players will engage in matches every week. Teamwork is key as you play with different teammates each time. This format not only enhances your abilities but also fosters new friendships and a sense of community among players. Get ready to challenge yourself and enjoy the game!

Game Regulations

Each night the random teams will rotate through playing each other, with one sit game and five minute water breaks between each game. W/L/T will be tabulated for each team, and the individual players will earn their points based on the team’s performance. At the end of the tournament, the players with the most points will be named as tournament leaders.

Substitutions (ie nights that you can’t play) are requested to be communicated to organizers asap to coordinate players to fill in from the sub roster. Points for the season determining ranking will be calculated as a percent of games played.

Rules for each game include:

  1. Game starts with ball at center, teams get back behind half line and goalie starts with ball after score.
  2. Kick-ins not throw-ins.
  3. Corner kicks or goalie pass to player after baseline out.
  4. No sliding.
  5. Game play pauses if player goes down and resumes when all players are on their feet.
  6. Game play pauses if ball from neighboring field enters field.
  7. Player furthest back can use hands inside box, goalie rotates without game play pause.
  8. No hands on the ball from team player pass back to goalie.
  9. Goalies can’t score with a throw (or can they? tbd rule).
  10. Goalies can drop and run, as long as the drop is inside the box before foot dribbling or passing up the field.

Players must adhere to the rules to maintain fair play and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Referees will be not be present to enforce these rules so it is up to the community to ensure a smooth experience for all. Same goes for counting goals and declaring W/L/T at end of each match. One team member will need to be designated to ensure the W/L/T outcome of each match is recorded by organizers.

Conduct and Sportsmanship

Respect is paramount in our tournament. Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, both on and off the field. Any form of abusive behavior or unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification from the tournament. We encourage everyone to support their teammates and opponents alike, fostering a positive environment for all participants.

Safety Guidelines

Player safety is our top priority. All participants must wear turf shoes, and shin guards re optional. Hydration is crucial, so please bring plenty of water to stay refreshed during matches, a fountain is available to refill water bottles. In case of injury, players should notify the Skyline immediately, and all liability of the facility and organizers is waived as a condition of joining the tournament.
